Members of the Newcastle Philosophy Society will be reading and studying parts of the Theban Trilogy of plays by Sophocles from September. The cafe remains open as usual and you are invited to listen or even join in.
Roy Sturgess writes - In the belief that theatre is one of the most direct forms of philosophical expression, we will study and read the parts of the Theban Trilogy of plays by Sophocles over 12 meetings and read out the parts at each meeting. We will perform the third, 'Antigone,' for the public at our last meeting. (Sophocles: The Three Theban Plays, translated by Robert Fagles, introduced by Bernard Knox, Penguin, 1984, costs virtually only postage on Amazon).
