Northern Guild for Psychotherapy and Counselling announce new full-time BA (Hons) Psychotherapeutic Counselling (subject to validation) in partnership with Northumbria University.

An exciting new collaborative partnership has been agreed between Northern Guild for Psychotherapy and Counselling and Northumbria University.

Gain a Degree and a Professional Qualification

From October 2012, the new BA (Hons) Psychotherapeutic Counselling full-time programme will ensure that students are equipped with professionally relevant knowledge and skills for a career in counselling, enabling them to work therapeutically with people facing a range of life difficulties, including anxiety and depression through to losses and traumas.

Students will benefit from a good level of practice experience, as well as personal development to equip them to work as professionally registered counsellors. Specialist modules will enable them to qualify to work with either adults or children and young people.

This course offers an exciting opportunity for people wanting to develop a new career and it is likely that eligible students will be able to apply for student loan funding. The programme can also be used as a step to achieve higher awards including the MA Integrative Psychotherapy (programme also subject to validation) to be offered in partnership with Northumbria University. As well as attaining their BA degree, students will achieve a professional qualification enabling them to apply for individual registration with the UK Council for Psychotherapy.

The Northern Guild was established in 1983 and has developed its reputation as the major provider of high quality, innovative counselling and psychotherapy training in the Northern region with its part-time Diploma courses continuing to attract high calibre students. There is an excellent track record in terms of student achievement, qualification and professional registration. In addition to the part-time training route, NGP offer a wide range of continuing professional development for professionals and practitioners at all levels and a range of therapeutic services for adults, children, couples and families.

Northumbria University has an excellent reputation for providing innovative, flexible and wide-reaching professional learning and development opportunities to those working in the caring professions. In addition to its comprehensive on-campus provision, the university works extensively with key organisations to develop and validate their in-house provision.
