This four year part-time course is accredited by the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and leads to registration with the UK Council for Psychotherapy as a Psychotherapist. On successful completion of the course and training requirements you will be awarded the UKCP accredited Northern Guild Diploma in Psychotherapy. This vocational course is designed for those seeking to become a professionally registered Psychotherapist. It is also relevant for individuals who may wish to develop and expand advanced psychotherapeutic skills within either work or vocational settings, as well as for those continuing to an MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy.
Aims

Training Requirements
•Attendance at all training modules
•Prescribed reading
•Workshops:
°TA101(3 days)
°Sand Tray Therapy (3 days)
°Researching Counselling & Psychotherapy (3 days)
°The Inner Child: Depth Psychotherapy (3 days)
•500 hours Psychotherapy Practice
•Ongoing formal Psychotherapy Supervision
•Observational Mental Health Placement - 70 hours over 6 months
•Ongoing Personal Therapy requirement throughout training
•Oral Case Presentation
•Maintenance of personal and professional journal, including client/supervision log
•Continuing supervised counselling work with clients
•Final written assessment consisting of a reflective overview of professional development and practice and an extended written case study
Progression
Students who meet the entry criteria may apply to transfer to the MSc or Post Graduate Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy in Year 3. This provides an academic qualification beneficial to your career, as well as being a route to professional registration. Students can also Dual Register to gain a recognised Counselling qualification whilst continuing their Psychotherapy training.
Entry Requirements
In order to be accepted on to the training programme applicants need to show:
•Graduate level competence. This may take the form of a relevant degree or equivalent vocational qualification in a related field, and/or equivalent life and work experience
•Relevant experience of working with people in a responsible role
•Personal and emotional resilience, the ability to respond to, and cope with challenges
•Suitable personal qualities and a genuine interest in working with people
•A personal value system in keeping with the philosophy of the training, including an open attitude towards all people irrespective of their race, creed, gender, sexual orientation
•Willingness to undergo statutory CRB checks
