Within Gestalt therapy the most important concept is the notion of the whole. Gestalt means a whole that cannot be broken without destroying its true nature. In keeping with the idea of the holistic nature of human beings is the certainty that, in order for the person to feel in harmony, the mind, body and spirit need to be connected as an integrated whole. Underlying this philosophy is the belief that all living things have an innate drive toward growth and self actualisation.
