About
‘We are as we are today – fractionalized people – split up into bits and pieces. And its no use to analyse these bits and pieces and cut them up still more. What we want to do in Gestalt therapy is to integrate all the dispersed and disowned parts and make the person whole again.’ Fritz Perls: 1976
Within Gestalt therapy the most important concept is the notion of the whole. Gestalt means a whole that cannot be broken without destroying its true nature. In keeping with the idea of the holistic nature of human beings is the certainty that, in order for the person to feel in harmony, the mind, body and spirit need to be connected as an integrated whole. Underlying this philosophy is the belief that all living things have an innate drive toward growth and self actualisation.
We will explore the fundamental principles of gestalt therapy including the:
- Drive toward Wholeness & Self-Actualization
- Cycle of Awareness
- Urge to Complete
- Present Moment
- Contact Boundaries
- Resistance
- Language of Responsibility
During the experiential componant there will be an opportunity to observe, practice and discuss gestalt techniques.
Please come and be ready to experiment……
