Domestic Abuse Counsellor Coordinator at Cygnus Support

As a local charity we are dedicated to improving the mental health & emotional wellbeing of people across Northumberland. Our mission is to empower people to improve their lives by providing counselling, education, and support in their local community.

About this role

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, experienced and suitably qualified counsellor to work on our new domestic abuse project. They will co-ordinate referrals onto project, carrying out triage, assessment and counselling of victims of domestic abuse and sexual violence supported by volunteer counsellors.

The successful candidate will hold a recognised Foundation Degree or Diploma in Counselling and be accredited or accreditable by BACP or other approved Governing body.

This is a new role and position and an exciting opportunity for the right candidate.

Domestic Abuse/Sexual Violence Counsellor

  • 18 hours per week (We are open to flexible working arrangements)
  • £12,986 per annum (FTE £25,250.00 pa)
  • Delivery will be a blended approach with a combination of remote and in person delivery across the county.
  • This is a fixed term contract until 31st March 2024 (With potential for extension subject to funding)
  • Starting date asap.

Child and Adult Therapists at Community Counselling Cooperative CIC 

An opportunity has arisen for paid sessional work for qualified therapists with Community Counselling Cooperative CIC.  They are looking for counsellors to work with children as part of a CADA project (Children and Adults Affected by Domestic Abuse) or adult work with Afghan Refugees, Male Survivors of Domestic/Sexual Abuse (16 upwards), with Liaison and Diversion clients who have been identified in police cells as having anxiety, depression and other mental health needs.

Funding is available on a short term basis and the work is across the North East & Northumberland
