Trauma Informed Practitioner 

  • Title: Trauma Informed Practitioner

The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for newly qualified social workers, health care professionals or qualified therapists interested in working in this arena and developing their trauma informed practice. Trauma Informed Practitioners work with adults, children and young people providing specialist support, performing duty referral triage and assessment provision, working 1:1 with clients offering safety and stabilisation techniques as well as supporting any practical needs.

Trauma Informed Practitioners also support our Tier 4 services of volunteers, groups, awareness raising and training, supporting their reintegration back into communities and expanding the scope of services that Safety Net offers. 

The successful applicant will be responsible for their own case load, work autonomously and pro-actively with clients as well as in an inter-agency context. The role is hybrid working which means the successful candidate will need to be able to travel across Cumbria and work remotely from home. All Trauma Informed Practitioners are working remotely at present, with sessions being delivered via telephone or video link. We provide the following staff wellbeing support, clinical supervision, case management and peer support meetings, all taking place through Microsoft Teams at present.

Therapist / Counsellor – Adult 

  • Title: Adult Counsellor / Therapist

  • Salary: £24,811 – £37,000, dependent on accreditation and experience

The Role

Due to increased demand, we are looking for an enthusiastic Adult therapist or counsellor with a recognised qualification to at least the equivalent of a postgraduate diploma. Who has or is willing to undertake training on trauma informed practise and understanding the impact of sexual and domestic abuse upon survivors, (12 months post qualification experience is desirable) to join our therapeutic team.

You will provide specialist support, counselling and trauma-focused therapy to Adults. The successful applicant will be responsible for their own case load, work autonomously and pro-actively with clients as well as in an inter-agency context.

Therapist – BAME and Refugee and Asylum Seeking Client Group

  • Title: Therapist – BAME and Refugee and Asylum Seeking Client Group
  • Employer: Newcastle University
  • Based: Newcastle Upon Tyne
  • Salary: £31,406.00 – £32,817, with progression to £40,927.00  per annum

The Role

To provide initial assessments, time-focused counselling (6 session model), one off support sessions and occasional crisis management support to our entire student population but with the primary client group being our BAME and Refugee and Asylum Seeking student community.  With the opportunity/requirement to co-facilitate group interventions and occasionally provide advice and guidance to staff, students and third party stakeholders.

You will act as an initial point of contact for Refugee and Asylum seeking students, providing key support linked to our status as a University of Sanctuary. The role will involve supporting University-wide work, to promote positive preventative interventions which aims to help improve the student experience for the BAME and Refugee and Asylum Seeking student community as well as being involved in provision specifically for Sanctuary scholars.

To work collaboratively with colleagues in the Student Health & Wellbeing Service (SHWS) to strengthen and further develop the provision available for BAME and Refugee and Asylum Seeking students.

Therapist – Male Sexual Violence 

  • Title: Therapist – Male Sexual Violence
  • Employer: Newcastle University
  • Based: Newcastle Upon Tyne 
  • Salary: £31,406 – £33,309 with progression to £40,927 per annum, pro rata
  • Closing date: 10th September 2021

The Role

To work collaboratively with colleagues in the Student Health & Wellbeing Service to strengthen and further develop the provision available for students with a range of psychological and emotional difficulties but with particular emphasis on male survivors of sexual violence. Experience of working with male survivors is essential. 

To provide time focused  counselling, initial assessments and occasional crisis management support. You will work particularly closely with our sexual violence liaison officers and has the opportunity to provide consultancy and training for staff, students and third party stakeholders. There may also be opportunities to co-facilitate a variety of group interventions.

This is a permanent, part time post (50% FTE).
